The Warmth
Dateline: November
18th, 2003
Iris City Cleaners
Mt. Pleasant, Iowa
For Immediate Release
Ed Longanecker,
Owner of Iris City Cleaners, of Mt. Pleasant,
is please to again announce its "Share the Warmth
Program." "This year in cooperation with the
Mt. Pleasant New, KILJ Radio, Dave's Super Value,
and HyVee Food Store we are conducting a blanket
donation to needing families in Henry County.
Citizens who wish to donate blankets, comforters
and quilts in good shape, are asked to drop them
off at any of the above sponsors."
What
is Share the Warmth Program? Dry
cleaners through out the country, at Thanksgiving
and Christmas ask their communities to donate clothing,
coats, blankets, and comforters and clean them free.
Then either through, churches, volunteers, or community
action groups provide them to children and families
in their areas. Two years ago Iris City
Cleaners accepted nearly 500 coats in its Share
the Warmth Program,
and found home for them at Christmas for needy children
and adults in the Mt. Pleasant area.
When
does the blanket donation end?
This year's donation, which includes any size blanket
from baby to king size, runs from November 20th
to December 18th.
Why
is this program important?
With many of our family members out of work, rising
utility costs, colder, wetter weather predicted
this winter, warmth and protection for our children
and families, especially around Christmas, seems
to be an important priority. The Fellowship
Cup and the Tolson Center for Community Action will
be helping in the distribution before Christmas
to those in need.
Who
should be involved? Those interested
in making a difference and donating can begin by
going through their closets and donating blankets
they haven't used in a while. Iris City Cleaners
along with help from the Mt. Pleasant New, KILJ
Radio, Dave's Super Value, and HyVee Food Store
will provide some comfort to those who need help
staying warm during the winter months by sponsoring
a community-wide blanket drive.
Where
do we make the donation? Each
of the sponsors above will have a shopping cart
or collection box in their lobby or store entrances.
Look for the signs.
Thanks in advance,
Ed and
Mary Longanecker
